Jaffa, 1980
His practice encompasses photography, video, installation and sculpture to explore themes of race, displacement and memory. Through performances multimedia, Guez transforms art into a vehicle for storytelling. His work has been exhibited in Mexico, Germany, Colombia, Jerusalem, Italy, the United States, the United Kingdom, among other countries. His pieces are part of collections such as the Tate Modern, Centre Pompidou, Guggenheim Abu Dhabi, Los Angeles County Museum of Art, Princeton University Art Museum, The Jewish Museum, Rose Art Museum, FRAC collection in Marseille and Museo de Arte Moderno in Bogota.

Partiendo de una exploración íntima de la memoria y el exilio, White Flag (2025) entrelaza testimonios personales, imágenes de archivo y narrativas sociopolíticas más amplias. Dor Guez Munayer reflexiona sobre las complejidades de la identidad, la diáspora y la naturaleza fragmentada de la memoria histórica.
Esta instalación de video en dos canales yuxtapone tres representaciones visuales de Gaza, combinando materiales de fotógrafos estadounidenses activos en el Levante a principios del siglo XX con relatos contemporáneos. La cámara de Guez se detiene en fragmentos apenas revelados, subrayando los límites de la visibilidad y la política del recuerdo.
El audio incluye el testimonio de una familiar del artista, quien ingresó a Gaza el 6 de octubre de 2023 para visitar a su hermana. Su voz ofrece un relato crudo de la guerra, la pérdida y la resiliencia. La herencia multirreligiosa y multicultural de Guez moldea su visión del hogar y el desplazamiento, y destaca cómo las perspectivas minoritarias pueden desafiar las narrativas históricas dominantes.

Starting from an intimate exploration of memory and exile, White Flag (2025) weaves together personal testimony, archival imagery, and broader sociopolitical narratives. Dor Guez Munayer reflects on the complexities of identity, diaspora, and the fragmented nature of historical memory.
This two-channel video installation juxtaposes three visual representations of Gaza, combining materials from early 20th-century American photographers in the Levant with contemporary accounts. As Guez’s camera lingers over partially revealed archival fragments, it emphasizes the limits of visibility and the politics of remembrance. The audio features a testimony from one of the artist’s relatives, who entered Gaza on October 6, 2023, to visit her sister.
Her voice offers a raw account of war, loss, and resilience. Guez’s multireligious and multicultural background shapes his understanding of home and displacement, highlighting how minority perspectives can challenge dominant historical narratives and offer alternative ways of seeing.
