Watercolor, pastel, ink, happy pricks, metal leaf, muted violence, untranstable voice on Indian handmade acid free paper and live performance
177 x 228 cm y 121 x 228 cm aproximadamente
Commissioned for the 24th Paiz Art Biennial
Drawing is a central element in Mithu Sen’s multi-faceted practice, often featuring intricate, grotesque, and sensual imagery. Her works on paper—usually described as “byproducts” of her conceptual process—use ink, watercolor, and collage to depict the body, its organs, and its fluid state, frequently challenging taboos.
Sen constantly (un)defines concepts and their functioning regarding acceptable modes of interaction, questioning pre-codified hierarchies that define the social performance of roles, the politics of tabooed identities that mark the other, and the plethora of constructs that actualize human existence as a reality.
Through radical hospitality, lingual anarchy, counter-capitalism, untabooed sexuality, and monolithic (Unmonolyth) identity, the artist persistently explores the void of in-betweenness, where (un)constructs dwell, waiting to be (un)realized.
The performance will take place for the finissage on February 15, 2026.
